PMT Tyres has been announced as the official tyre partner of the eSkootr Championship, the world’s first electric scooter racing series.

The Italian manufacturer will provide tyres for all of the S1-X racing scooters in the championship from 2022

PMT has been on hand throughout the year at testing in the UK, Italy and France working closely with the championship’s technical team and gaining insights from test riders.

Various compounds have been assessed and refined to produce the final high performance dry and wet weather tyres.

Teams will select their tyres at the start of each eSkootr Championship race weekend, and use the same ones throughout, while all tyres used at races will be centrally recycled and used for second life projects.

As well as the recycling of all race tyres, work has already started on the development of a natural rubber tyre for the championship.

“PMT has done an incredible job developing a tyre capable of meeting the unique demands of the S1-X racing scooter,” said Hrag Sarkissian, eSkootr Championship co-founder and CEO.

“We’re delighted to formalise that relationship by welcoming them to the Championship as our Official Tyre Partner. They share our vision for safety and sustainability at the highest level of racing performance. To work with a partner committed to innovation through racing is the perfect fit for us and we look forward to a successful partnership as we enter our first season of racing together.”

PMT co-founder Laura Pauselli added: “We are very proud to be joining the eSkootr family as the Official Tyre Partner. We share eSC’s ambition’s for this exciting new championship as well as this entirely new category of global motorsport.

“We’re also aligned with eSC’s mission to transfer safety and sustainability relevance from the track to the real world of micromobility. Tyre innovation is vital to improving the safety of electric scooters on the road, especially in the wet.”
