Cowboy boosts navigation experience through Google Maps partnership

Belgian ebike maker Cowboy has joined forces with Google Maps to provide an enhanced in-app navigation experience for its riders.

In an important milestone for Cowboy, the Google Maps Platform will be integrated into the company’s app. This will enable riders to access bike-specific routes tailored to their needs.

Cowboy riders will also gain access to a range of complementary in-app features like real-time speed tracking, battery life monitoring and calories burned.

Tanguy Goretti, Cowboy’s Co-Founder and CTO, told Zag Daily that working with Google is “a real bucket list moment”.

“So to be the ebike brand to work with the team at Google Maps Platform and integrate their new turn-by-turn navigation – which was the most requested feature from our riders –  is extra special.”

Google Maps integration is the first part of a series of new features built within the platform. More are to be announced in the Autumn.

Enhanced experience

The update is available for iOs customers of all Cowboy bikes from C1 to C4 and C4ST. Android users can expect it in the next couple of weeks.

“Already, feedback is overwhelmingly positive as our community – no matter what Cowboy bike model they own –  are being presented with new cycle-first routes to make their commute safer and more enjoyable this morning,” said Goretti.

This comes a few months after the firm announced its ‘AdaptivePower’ software. It identifies shifts in elevation, wind or weight and adjusts the power as necessary to keep the rider in the flow.

Earlier this year, Cowboy raised over its €1 million crowdfunding target in under 48 hours
