Neuron invited riders to scoot before they ran at the Great North Run

Micromobility operator Neuron invited racegoers to scoot before they ran last weekend as people flocked to Newcastle for the world’s biggest half marathon.

The race went ahead as a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, to honour her life and service, and to celebrate runners raising funds for worthy causes.

To cater for the estimated 60,000 runners and 250,000 spectators, Neuron increased the deployment of e-scooters at metro stations along the route, which started in Newcastle and finished in South Shields.

Safety Ambassadors at Neuron were also on the ground at e-scooter hotspots, encouraging the public to take short courses on the company’s online ScootSafe Academy

Riders could earn up to £5.50 of free credits for future rides by taking part in safety quizzes, interactive games, and by watching a series of educational videos.

“Our shared e-scooters provide a superb solution for large-scale events like the Great North Run, and we’re pleased to have contributed to making this year’s event another great success,” Neuron’s UK and Ireland Regional Manager Cormac Quinn told Zag Daily.

“They bolster public transport and provide a convenient and inexpensive way to move thousands of people around the city. Also, they don’t produce harmful emissions which are a particular concern during outdoor sporting events.”
