Regent has announced that United Marine Egypt (UME) Shipping will be the first to receive its 100% electric Monarch seaglider, a 50-100-passenger vessel designed to slash travel time and emissions in coastal transit.
With plans to launch before the decade’s close, the Monarch seaglider aims to redefine regional travel in the Red Sea, integrating high-speed, zero-emission transport across popular destinations.
The Monarch seaglider has a range of 400 miles and will combine an aircraft-like speed of 140mph with the economic and environmental advantages of marine travel. Its ground-effect technology allows the vessel to “fly” just above the water.
“UME’s use of Regent all-electric Monarch seagliders in the Red Sea will drastically reduce the time and cost of transporting passengers and goods, increasing coastal connectivity while advancing the future of sustainable transportation,” said Adam Triolo, VP of Commercial Business Development at Regent.
With over 600 units already pre-ordered across six continents, the company is aiming to make zero-emission coastal transit accessible on a global scale.
“More than 40% of the world’s population lives near coasts, and there is an incredible opportunity for seagliders to provide a high-speed, efficient, and sustainable solution to augment existing transportation ecosystems worldwide,” Triolo added.
This is Regent’s second partnership with UME, following an order for its smaller 12-passenger Viceroy seaglider model.
Regent is advancing global certification for the Monarch in partnership with classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR).
