Zag Daily is proud to announce that we have partnered with ERTICO-ITS Europe to showcase ITS European Congress – Europe’s exclusive gathering for leaders in smart mobility and intelligent transport systems.
More than 3,500 experts are expected to attend the 16th Congress taking place in Seville, Spain on 19-21 May 2025.
ERTICO-ITS Europe is a public-private partnership organisation with close to 120 members, connecting eight sectors across the broader ecosystem in Intelligent Transport Systems and Smart Mobility.
“The 16th ITS European Congress stands as the largest and most influential gathering in the realm of smart mobility, serving as the driving force behind transport innovation in Europe,” Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO-ITS Europe, told Zag Daily.
“The ITS European Congress is more than just an event – it is a catalyst for turning visionary ideas into tangible action. With thousands of mobility experts in attendance, it plays a pivotal role in shaping the trajectory of intelligent transport systems, setting the stage for the future of mobility.”
Featuring over 120 exhibitors and more than 200 thought leaders from 50 countries, the Congress aims to foster invaluable discussions, breakthrough solutions, and cutting-edge technology.
Expect a 45% / 55% audience split between the public and private sectors respectively, from segments including the advanced air mobility market, transport & logistics, traffic management, automated mobility and micromobility.
“The high demand for participation in the ITS European Congress is a testament to its global relevance, with over 90% of exhibition space already secured,” said Mr. Vantomme. “This exceptional level of engagement highlights the Congress as the premier meeting point where the brightest minds converge to drive meaningful progress in smart and sustainable transportation solutions worldwide.”
What’s the theme?
This year’s theme titled “Clean, Resilient, and Connected Mobility” represents a strategic shift to address the urgent challenges in the transport sector.
The global push for clean mobility is intensifying and the event will look to dissect how to accelerate this shift while maintaining efficiency and affordability. Resilient Mobility has become a critical concern in an era where both social and environmental disruptions have become more frequent, while the third category, Connected Mobility, has been selected because the future of mobility is interconnected. Cooperative Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM) is pushing the boundaries of how data and connectivity can enhance mobility experiences.
The course programme will consist of a High Level Programme featuring 3 Plenary Sessions and a Smart Mobility Summit of Cities and Regions, attracting influential figures from research, industry, government, and policymaking. Then there is a Technical Programme featuring over 100 Sessions where experts examine smart mobility from a technical perspective.
Why Seville?
As the host of the Congress, Seville is setting a bold example, harnessing Intelligent Transport Systems to meet the EU’s ambitious goals for a climate-neutral future.
To achieve climate-neutrality by 2030, Seville has launched an ambitious Seville Respira Plan, reimagining its urban landscape to prioritise people, not cars.
The city now boasts a 180km network of protected cycling lanes with around 70,000 bike trips made every day. Seville’s bikeshare ‘SEVici’ also provides 2,500 bikes across 263 stations for residents and tourists. This is made all the more impressive because, back in 2006, cycling in Seville was almost non-existent, with only 12km of bike lanes and just 0.5% of daily trips made by bike.
“Aligned with European initiatives such as the Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, Seville exemplifies how our host cities’ lead the transformation of smarter, cleaner and more sustainable future. With its commitment to cleaner transportation, Seville embodies the spirit of innovation that our Congress seeks to promote,” Mr. Vantomme explained.
“On behalf of ERTICO as organiser, and together with the host City of Seville, in sync with ITS Spain and the entire host committee, I have the great pleasure of inviting all of you to continue fostering enriching dialogues and unique network opportunities that propel Europe towards a more sustainable future. I am very much looking forward to greeting you all in Seville.”
The partnership between ERTICO-ITS Europe and Zag will focus on spotlighting key industry advancements, fostering meaningful discussions, and inspiring progress of intelligent and connected transport.
“Partnering with Zag Daily for the 16th ITS European Congress was a natural choice for ERTICO – ITS Europe. As a leading voice in shared and sustainable mobility, Zag Daily brings invaluable insights and industry expertise that align perfectly with our mission to drive innovation in Intelligent Transport Systems,” Mr. Vantomme concluded.
