Micromobility giant Lime has announced that riders took more than 175 million trips across 280 cities this year.

This replaced over 43 million car trips with two-wheeled, emissions-free rides, saving approximately 20,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The surge in ridership this year also helped Lime surpass 750 million lifetime trips, becoming the first shared electric vehicle operator to reach this major milestone.

Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime, told Zag Daily: “2024 was another defining year for Lime and our dedicated riders were fundamental to our continued breakthrough as an essential service in over 280 cities globally. For our third installment, our Ride Replay campaign acknowledges and celebrates the impact of everyone who took a trip with us this year. After surpassing 750 million lifetime trips in 2024, we’re looking forward to continuing to be an integral part of our riders’ daily lives next year, while providing a safe, affordable and sustainable solution for cities aiming to decarbonise their transportation networks.”

By taking three quarters of a billion trips, Limes riders have replaced an estimated 176 million car trips, avoided an estimated 75,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions and travelled more than 875 million miles, or nearly 1.4 billion kilometres.

The Ride Replay campaign showcases how top riders around the world used Lime to get around. The campaign also recognises individual cities based on rider trends.

London came out on top as the city with the most miles ridden, while Milton Keynes had the highest commute percentage. Paris had the highest percentage of women riders and New York had the most rides during the morning between 4am-9am.

As part of this sustainability mission, Lime will also be launching in tandem with Ride Replay a new interactive roadmap toward its ambitious net zero goal, with progress, interim targets, and its path to decarbonisation.

Next year Lime is gearing up with plans to double down on social impact programmes and expand new vehicle pilots.
