Micromobility tourism platform GoGiro has run a successful pilot with a multinational hotel brand to showcase how to combine digital tour guides with sustainable vehicles.

The hotel Four Points by Sheraton in Ljubljana, Slovenia lacked a sustainable, fast and engaging way for guests to travel to the city centre and explore the best sites.

The GoGiro Experience Platform allowed the hotel to select up to 20 tourism tours that guests could visit while riding its e-scooters.

GoGiro’s CEO Klemen Furlan told Zag Daily: “Guests were able to enjoy a next-level culinary experience and get to know the city’s best-known landmarks, as well as ride around using sustainable transport.”

Tourists just had to take out an e-scooter at the reception, pay on the app and scan the QR code.

By creating a digital tour guide, Four Points by Sheraton was able to generate additional revenue as customers spent money in places with which the hotel partnered.

“GoGiro platform deals with guests during their stay, capturing the potential of non-room revenue for hotels,” said Furlan.

“The GoGiro highly customisable digital tour guide takes one hour to create but makes sustainable income for hotels for the next 10 years.”

Feedback from the hotel found that using e-scooters to get around increased guest satisfaction.

“It is a real pleasure seeing tourists come back from the city happy and relaxed,” said Anja Hribar, Four Points by Sheraton’s Marketing and PR Manager. “We had so much great feedback.”
