Latvian start-up BeTriton has raised €80,000 for its electric amphibious camper-trike in its first equity crowdfunding campaign.

The company’s camper-trike is an electric water borne recreational vehicle that combines boating and cycling while also sleeping two people.

BeTriton announced yesterday that it achieved its goal of €70,000 by 114% from 150 investors after the campaign was live for three months.

“There isn’t a product on the market that combines these three functions: a tiny camper, electric boat and electric bicycle. There is a gap between expensive yachts and small inflatable boats,” BeTriton CEO Aigars Lauzis told Zag Daily.

“We offer a product that doesn’t require any licences, doesn’t burn anything, and doesn’t require marina fees to be paid. No additional vehicles are needed to move this around, and no towing is needed either. It’s a more sustainable way to travel both over land and water.”

BeTriton will use the funds to build new rental and sales units of all three of its BeTriton Full, BeTrition Trailer, and BeTrition eTrailer models for the European market.

The BeTrition Full is the company’s premium product, the BeTriton Trailer can be towed by a standard e-bike, and the BeTriton eTrailer features a solar panel on its roof to reduce the frequency of charging.

The company aims to produce a rental fleet charging a price of €100 per day to businesses and individuals, as well as sell units to other rental companies.

Aigars believes vehicles like BeTrition will serve cities when they inevitably shift from being car-dominated and instead implement car-free and traffic calming measures.

“Our solution can be used for recreation and everyday use as a cargo bike. You should see what happens when I rock up with BeTriton at my son’s kindergarten picking him up. Kids go crazy and feel inspired.

“BeTriton triggers imagination and inspires creativity. It creates smiles, joy, wonder, lasting memories, bonds between couples, families and friends.”
