Hamburg-based manufacturer Walberg Urban Electrics has launched a limited edition Egret e-scooter to mark its 20th anniversary.

Winner of the Eurobike Award 2023 in the electric vehicle category, the Egret One comes with unique features developed with automotive industry leaders.

F1 equipment supplier Pirelli helped develop its 11-inch tyres with a raised tyre wall for maximum ride comfort.

Florian Walberg, Founder and CEO of Walberg Urban Electrics, told Zag Daily: “It is inherent to vehicles with pneumatic tyres that flat tyres are one of the main concerns for customers. Therefore, for our flagship model – the Egret One – it was our goal to develop tyres that are as durable as possible and, at the same time, as soft as possible in order to provide optimal suspension comfort.

“For the model Egret One, we wanted to take the common 10-inch tyre size as a base and enlarge the sidewall to maximise suspension comfort. Since this 11-inch tyre size didn’t exist before, we developed it ourselves in Hamburg. Thanks to Pirelli’s expertise we ensured that the tread offers optimal puncture resistance without compromising suspension comfort.”

The Egret One’s braking system was created in partnership with Bavarian company Schaeffler, which offers protection against dirt and bending in the event of curb contact.

According to Walberg, such features make the brakes virtually maintenance-free and significantly more durable thanks to a brake pad surface that is seven times as large.

With 99% of Egret One’s components engineered in Germany, the Egret One has a three-step folding mechanism and a removable battery located under the running board. It comes with an integrated lock system and an additional rope lock Egret mate by tex-lock to help prevent thefts.

The e-scooter’s graphite grey frame is made of a magnesium alloy, which makes it 33% lighter than a conventional aluminium alloy. A 3.5-inch TFT colour display with intuitive user guidance round off the premium specifications.

The first release of this e-scooter will be available on June 15 in a limited edition of 2,000 units for €1,799. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-July.
