Swytch Technology has unveiled the world’s first pocket-sized e-bike conversion kit.
The battery provides 250W of power for up to 9 miles per charge, enough for many people’s daily commute, according to the London-based start-up.
Weighing just 700g, the battery can be recharged in around an hour.
A key benefit of the conversion kit is that the cost will be around 4 x lower than the price of an e-bike with equivalent specifications.
Customers then get to up-cycle their existing bike to make it electric while reducing waste. It is also flight-safe, allowing it to be taken in carry-on luggage.
The company believes e-bikes should be lightweight, affordable and work like a regular bike whilst having electric functionality.
Swytch already has a larger version of this switch kit, which has sold more than 9,000 units, making it responsible for over 5% of the entire e-bike market by volume, according to the firm.
“Our new improved Swytch Kit is a game-changer,” said Swytch’s CTO and Co-Founder, Dmitro Khroma. “It is going to totally disrupt the e-bike industry because it is so much lighter, smaller and more affordable than anything else out there.”
The new pocket-sized kit will be available to pre-order following the official public launch next month.
Swytch’s CEO and Co-Founder Oliver Montague added: “Our job as innovators is to make environmentally-friendly technology that people want to use because it is cool! That way, a global change to a more sustainable way of life will happen naturally.”
