Micromobility operator Lime announced the appointment of its new General Manager for the UK and Ireland Sam Merullo on Monday.
The appointment comes amid efforts by the firm to scale and grow its operations in the UK, with Merullo focused on growing the footprint of Lime electric scooters and bikes in a safe and sustainable manner.
Lime was one of three operators chosen for the launch of the London e-scooter trials, while it also has fleets in Milton Keynes, Rochdale and Salford.
According to Zag estimates, Lime currently operates around 800 e-scooters in London, with an additional 400 in Milton Keyes and around 300 in Manchester.
Meanwhile, it has a fleet of around 1,500 e-bikes across the UK.
Following the announcement, Merullo said: “I am thrilled to have joined Lime at such an exciting stage in its growth.
“The e-scooter launch in London was a great success and I look forward to ensuring as many riders as possible across the UK can enjoy green and safe journeys with Lime e-bikes and e-scooters.
“Safety underpins all of our operations and the Lime team and I will be working tirelessly to provide an enjoyable experience for every rider.”
Prior to joining Lime, Merullo founded his own logistics business ScootFleet, which has since become the logistics provider for businesses including Just Eat and Deliveroo.
