Estonian micromobility firm Bolt has launched its fifth-generation e-scooter, with it set to be rolled out in Europe throughout 2022.
The Bolt 5 has been designed with a number of new safety features including a wider footboard, larger front wheel and hydraulic suspension.
The new model also has curved handlebars as well as front and rear indicator lights, a swappable 48v battery and a dashboard displaying speed and battery levels.
Made from 100% recyclable aluminium, Bolt claim that it has an estimated life cycle of up to 60 months.
Founded in 2013, the firm operates shared e-scooter schemes in a number of European countries and has around 130 fleets in total.
According to Zag Daily data, Bolt currently has more than 50,000 e-scooters available for hire across the continent, with 20,000 units of the new model set to be deployed.
“Bolt and cities are partners,” said Dmitri Pivovarov, VP of rentals.
“We have the same goals: we’re looking to provide vehicles and solutions that can be used together with public transport infrastructure. Bolt 5 is the safest and the most durable scooter offered by Bolt so far. It’s a great solution for people who want to move away from private car ownership.”
