Google Maps has partnered with shared e-scooter operator TIER to offer a “new option when planning routes for the first and last mile”.
From Monday, TIER riders in 11 major European cities will be able to locate nearby e-scooters directly from Google Maps, with additional information including estimated cost and arrival time.
Initially available in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Vienna, Zurich, Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki, other cities are due to follow throughout the rest of 2021.
Riders will simply need to press the TIER button under the cycling directions tab, which in turns locates the closest e-scooters.
“Our mission to change mobility for good is largely about creating strong partnerships to expand everyone’s access to sustainable, easily accessible and multimodal mobility solutions,” said Tinia Mühlfenzl, Director of Market Development at TIER.
“Through our collaboration with Google, we’re creating visibility for TIER scooters within Google Maps and helping to ensure that riders have access to the form of transportation that best suits their daily mobility needs.”
Founded in 2018, TIER has a presence in 120 cities across 13 countries in Europe and the Middle East.
It is also one of three operators currently partaking in the London e-scooter trials, which got underway on 7 June.
