Micromobility operators Bird and Zipp have both expanded their e-scooter provision in the UK after launching in new areas.
Bird, which has been operating in Redditch since October last year, has extended its service to include Ipsley, Winyates, Matchborough, Churchill and Crabbs Cross.
Meanwhile, Zipp has launched in Princes Risborough with a fleet of 26 e-scooters and has plans to move into Minehead next month.
Zipp already operates fleets in High Wycombe, Aylesbury and Taunton as part of the ongoing UK e-scooter trials.
“Like with all our schemes, we start with a low number of scooters and introduce more over a couple of weeks,” Zipp CEO Charlie Gleeson told Zag.
“We are thrilled to be launching in Princes Risborough with 26 scooters and then expanding into Minehead next month.
“The feedback from our trials so far has been excellent. We’re looking to build long-term relationships within the communities we are operating in. Having a strong relationship with the user, the local councils, and the wider community is very important to us.”
As part of its expansion in Redditch, where it currently operates a fleet of 155 e-scooters according to Zag’s data, Bird is working with the local council to introduce signage in Arrow Valley to help riders navigate their way around town.
“This further expansion is testament to how well people in Redditch have taken to the service,” said Charlotte Bailey, general manager of Bird UK.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer our service to even more residents in the town so they can get about more conveniently than ever before. As the town starts to open up following the pandemic we want people to think twice about taking their cars for short journeys and help them connect to the station for longer trips.”
