British micromobility operator Zwings is now offering unlimited free e-scooter rides to key workers across all its UK trial locations.
Zwings is the sole e-scooter fleet provider for pilot programmes in Yeovil, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Gloucester and Cheltenham. Key workers will be able to avail themselves of free rides in all those towns until 2 December 2020. Each ride is capped at 30mins but riders can take as many as they like.
Users must visit the contact page at the Zwings website to sign up; eligible riders will then be emailed a code to use in-app.
“In Gloucestershire, keeping people safe throughout the coronavirus pandemic is our priority, and we fully recognise that front line key workers play a huge role in supporting our community,” said Nigel Moor, cabinet member for planning and environment at Gloucestershire County Council. “Zwings provides a way for our residents to travel around urban areas while staying apart, reducing congestion and emissions, and improving air quality at the same time.”
Zwings isn’t just knocking money off rides to help key workers tackle these tough times. The company is also adding more parking bays near hospitals and arterial commuting routes, so that key workers can access e-scooters much more easily. And Zwings has retrofitted its scooters with Shieldex copper grips, which is reported to kill 99.98% of viruses and bacteria.
These are all welcome moves and all the more impressive given the small size of the company compared to rivals such as Bird, Lime and Voi.
