German e-bike subscription service Cycle has opened its first store in Amsterdam to directly serve individual couriers with e-bikes.
The Netherlands-based store will primarily cater to food delivery couriers, healthcare workers and other individuals who want to use e-bikes for commercial purposes, and it marks Cycle’s ninth store with other locations in Germany, Austria and Italy.
Cycle, which operates nearly 15,000 e-bikes, offers flexible subscription plans including weekly, monthly and six-month options, and the store will provide a range of accessories including extra batteries, boxes, and trailers.
“Having operated in the Netherlands for two years and established a robust B2B network, we decided it was the right time to open our first store in Amsterdam, catering specifically to individual clients,” Cycle CEO and Co-Founder Luis Orsini-Rosenberg told Zag Daily.
According to Luis, it took four weeks to set up the store from receiving the keys to launching it, while the company worked on enhancing its rental apps and fleet management software.
“Amsterdam is renowned as one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world, not just for personal use but also for commercial purposes.
“Starting in 2025, company vehicles and trucks with combustion engines will be banned from the Amsterdam city centre, with an emission-free zone for these commercial vehicles set to be established.
“In support of these efforts and to better serve our clients, we decided to intensify our focus on Amsterdam by launching a store specifically catering to clients who need e-bikes for commercial use.”
The launch comes shortly after Cycle acquired Dutch bicycle company Ebike4Delivery to expand its last mile delivery options.
