Another e-scooter start-up has signalled intent to enter the UK market, with DfT model approval.
Zeus hails not from Mount Olympus but from Ireland, is founded by a banker and runs a fleet of three-wheeled electric scooters that wouldn’t look out of place in a book of mythology. Sadly, the trike-type scooter won’t be coming to UK shores; a conventional two-wheeled machine has been rubber stamped by the DfT.
That doesn’t mean Zeus will actually be working here in the UK, of course, merely that the company has a scooter that meets minimum safety standards.
Zeus reckons it will be operating in 20 cities across Europe by the end of the year, with 7,000 scooters in action by 2021. With the surprising mauling taken by the large international micromobility firms thus far in the UK, and the equally-surprising rise of small operators, we wouldn’t bet on an improbably-Herculean performance for…erm…Zeus.
