NatWest and WMG Launch Clean Transport Accelerator

UK bank NatWest and WMG, an academic department at the University of Warwick, are running a Clean Transport Specialist Accelerator for entrepreneurs with high growth businesses looking to scale up.

This is a free six-month programme beginning in September 2023.

Ambitious SMEs will gain access to 1:1 coaching and workshops, a free working space at Warwick University available seven days a week, networking with a community of 50 businesses, and access to a pitching event at the end of the course to industry experts.

Transport is the largest carbon emitting sector in the UK accounting for more than a quarter of emissions, and therefore critical to climate strategy and achieving Net Zero goals through to 2050.

The UK has world leading research and innovation capability, but it can be difficult to navigate support structures to find the help needed to develop both the solution, and the commercial strategy to grow the business. That is why WMG and NatWest have developed the accelerator, to help remove barriers and encourage growth.

James Black, Innovation Manager at WMG SME Group, told Zag Daily: “The Clean Transport Accelerator is a fantastic opportunity for small manufacturing businesses to get funded support on their journey to Net Zero. You can join a vibrant community of clean transport trailblazers and a team of business experts to help your business grow.”

Applicants must be an operational business within the SME space, looking to pivot and capitalise on the opportunities associated with the emerging clean transport supply chain. They should also ideally be based in the West Midlands or willing to travel to the University of Warwick when required.

One of the businesses from the previous cohort said via an NPS score: “The Workshop days on a Wednesday allow me to think about working “on” my business rather than “in” and at the same time challenge myself on thought provoking topics that help my business grow and scale.”

Adam Walters, Enterprise Accelerator Manager at NatWest Group, commented: “Rev up your business success with the Clean Transport Accelerator – where innovation meets sustainability. Embrace the future of clean mobility and lead your industry while making a positive impact on the planet.”

The deadline for applications is August 18 2023. Entrepreneurs can email Adam.Walters@Natwest.com to register an interest.
