Mobility startup Baqme has officially launched its crowdfunding campaign today to grow its shared e-cargo bike business.
Those who have pre-registered are being given first access to invest through a private link before the crowdfund opens up to the general public.
Since launching in Rotterdam last year, Baqme has grown from 20 to 285 e-cargo bikes and now operates in four cities in the Netherlands and Belgium. It has more than 10,000 users and has facilitated over 60,000 rides.
Baqme is looking to raise a minimum of £150,000 to accelerate further growth in The Hague, Eindhoven and Ghent.
“So far, the amount of interest has exceeded expectations,” Baqme’s Founder Souren Arakelian told Zag Daily.
“Everyone should have a chance to invest in cool startups. That is why we have made investing in Baqme as easy as possible from as a little as 15 euros. Our crowdfunding has gone live for people who have registered and will soon be open to the public.”
The bikes have two seatbelts to fit two small children, or they can be used to carry groceries, luggage or personal items.
Those looking to rent a Baqme for an extended period of time can now do so with Baqme Boost. A monthly, half yearly and annual option is available from €155 per month. Users can charge the battery themselves and order additional accessories such as an extra battery, rain cover or seat.
“We are on an amazing journey, offering e-cargo bikes so they can have a meaningful impact on people’s lives,” said Arakelian. “That is why we have launched Baqme Boost, next to our sharing business. With Boost, people who are not in our operating areas can now also enjoy using an e-cargo bike through subscription.”
