Bird is the first micromobility operator to join the MaaS Alliance, a public-private partnership dedicated to creating a common approach to Mobility as a Service in Europe.
The main purpose of the international non-profit association is to set up a dialogue between private and public organisations working on smart mobility solutions to move forward the deployment of MaaS.
As a full member of the MaaS alliance, Bird will now contribute with expertise in micromobility services and promote public awareness of the benefits of MaaS.
“Improving mobility in cities starts with increasing access to sustainable, multimodal transportation options which is why we partner with MaaS solutions in many of the 400 cities in which we operate globally, whether that be for our e-scooters or as part of our smart bikeshare programme,” Bird’s Senior Vice President for Global Policy and Consumer Products, Brian Buccella, told Zag Daily.
“Bird recognises how important multi modal integration is for a comprehensive ecosystem in cities. As the first and only operator to join the Alliance so far, we are taking a bold step to ensure our last-mile vehicles are part of the fabric as cities continue to develop their transport systems, and we know that MaaS integrations are one of the best ways to achieve that.”
MaaS integrations are often key in city tenders globally as cities look to integrate their own transport services into micromobility operators’ technology for a more convenient rider experience.
