Rhode Island-based Regent Craft has raised $240m as it prepares to move its Seaglider programme into production and complete testing of its first crewed Viceroy prototype.

Regent develops Seagliders, vessels that use hydrofoils to lift clear of the water before travelling within a few metres of the surface on wings. The company is developing the technology for both commercial passenger transport and defence applications and says the new capital will support testing, certification and production.

“This raise comes at a crucial time for Regent,” a company spokesperson told Zag Daily. “It will support us as we look to complete the testing campaign and move into full-scale manufacturing.”

The Series B round comprises an equal split of equity and debt and brings Regent’s total funding commitments to $340m. It was co-led by maritime investment firm Mare Liberum and aerospace investor AE Ventures, with debt provided by Erebor Bank.

Regent completed construction of what it describes as “the world’s first Seaglider manufacturing facility” in Rhode Island in June 2026. The 255,000 sq ft site is expected to begin production later this year.

“Our Seaglider Manufacturing Facility will serve as our global production hub for our order book across six continents, encompassing orders from leading airline and ferry operators worldwide,” the spokesperson added.

The company says it has already booked multiple years of manufacturing capacity. It has not disclosed the number of Seagliders represented by those orders or their total value.

That demand is increasingly split between commercial and defence customers. Regent has an expanded $15m contract with the US Marine Corps for its Viceroy platform, while its autonomous Squire Seaglider has also attracted military interest following recent demonstrations.

Regent has also announced commercial partnerships in markets including the US, Greece and the UAE. In the US, ferry operator The Twenty Five is Regent’s first announced delivery and launch partner.

Regent expects manufacturing to begin later this year after completing the facility build. Its Viceroy prototype will need to complete its crewed testing programme before Regent can progress towards its planned customer deliveries.
