TIER shared e-scooters in London have travelled more than 350,000km in London since the trial began in the capital in June.

The micromobility operator released the data to coincide with the London trial’s sixth-month anniversary, with TIER one of three operators to earn the tender alongside Lime and Dott.

The data showed that 6 pm was the most popular time for riders to hire an e-scooter, while the average journey time was less than 20 minutes.

The trial is expected to run until at least March 2022 and will inform future e-scooter policy decisions.

The German-owned firm also operates in York, in addition to more than 160 cities in 16 countries across Europe and the Middle East.

“Cutting congestion, improving air quality and transforming how people move around in cities is the founding purpose of Tier, and it’s fantastic that e-scooters are being recognised as a convenient, quick way to travel from work and onto exciting evening plans in the capital,” said European Regional Manager at TIER Fred Jones.

“With some of the most popular destinations for riders including key tourism and shopping spots like Covent Garden and the South Bank, we know e-scooters will continue to play a vital role in the transport mix this Christmas season. Looking ahead to 2022, we want to continue demonstrating that e-scooters can be a safe, sustainable mode of transport – providing a green, accessible way to move around cities.”
