Cairo-based micromobility operator Rabbit Mobility has grown its user base organically from 18,000 to 300,000 users between January 2022 and April 2023.

The announcement marks an unprecedented level of demand in Egypt for Rabbit’s e-scooters and e-bikes.

Rabbit currently operates in seven cities across the country, including Cairo, Alexandria and Sharm El Sheikh.

“Our success is a testament to the fact that Egyptians are ready for micromobility, and we are proud to be leading the charge in this exciting industry,” said Rabbit Mobility Co-founder and CEO Kamal ElSoueni.

Rabbit attributes the positive result to a change of Egyptians perception of urban mobility, high fleet availability and strong customer service. The company has also made it easy for users to access its services by developing a bi-lingual user-friendly mobile app that allows users to quickly locate and rent vehicles.

ElSoueni told Zag that Egypt has historically been a challenging market to operate in, with the firm originally having to deploy vehicles in private neighbourhoods and gated communities.

“Egyptians had never thought about using e-scooters to move from point A to point B,” he said. “Now we’re available in most of the key neighbourhoods across seven cities.

“With a commitment to providing affordable, convenient, and eco-friendly transportation options, Rabbit Mobility has managed to win the hearts of Egyptians, who have embraced micromobility as a lifestyle.”

Looking ahead, Rabbit is on track to be in 18+ cities in North Africa by the end of 2023.
