Forest has partnered with the UK’s largest energy provider, Octopus Energy, to accelerate London’s shift to zero-carbon travel.
One million members of Octopus Energy’s reward scheme, Octoplus, will receive 30 minutes of free rides with Forest. Octopus’ 8,500 UK employees will also get access to Forest’s Cycle to Work scheme, giving them 30 hours of ride time and unlimited free unlocks.
In return, Octopus will power Forest’s fleet of 20,000 e-bikes across London with zero-carbon electricity.
Zag Daily spoke with Jamie Richards, Vice President of Sales at Forest, about the deal’s significance.
“Today’s news strengthens our position as London’s most sustainable e-bike operator and opens up cycling to one million members of Octopus Energy’s reward scheme, Octoplus,” he said.
“Ultimately, it is a partnership that will help more people than ever cycle around London – and to travel in ways that ease congestion, promote healthier lifestyles and are better for the environment.
“By joining forces with Octopus Energy, we’re not only bringing together two homegrown London businesses – we are accelerating a cleaner, greener future for the city.”
Forest has seen multiple record-breaking months this year, with riders covering over 47 million km.
Greg Jackson, Founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, commented: “For anyone that has ever spotted me on my way to a meeting, you’ll know that e-bikes are far and away my favourite way to get around London. I could not be happier that we’re now powering Forest Bikes – bringing even more clean, green ways to travel to people across the city.”
