French bike brand Bastille is set to debut its new urban model that can fold in less than ten seconds.

After 10 years of R&D and three patents, the ‘Bastille’ bike will be on exhibition at Eurobike next month – the premier summit set to convene tens of thousands of mobility enthusiasts at Messe Frankfurt.

First deliveries of the Bastille have been completed with over 45 partner shops, and the brand is aiming for a network of 100 retailers by the end of the year.

“The Bastille is a full-size urban bike, fully equipped for the city, that folds up and follows you wherever you go – on the train, in the boot of a taxi, in a restaurant. A full-size bike that’s comfortable, elegant and efficient for short everyday distances as well as long journeys on the open road,” Bastille Co-Founder Quentin Bernard told Zag Daily.

“Our 3 patents – the seatpost, frame and the stem – are set in motion simply and seamlessly in one intuitive movement to fold the Bastille. In less than 10 seconds, anyone can fold a Bastille bike smoothly and easily. Folding becomes a real pleasure.”

The Bastille is designed for both on and off-road riding. It has 27.5-inch wheels, weighs 15.2 kilograms and is equipped with a carbon fork, belt, hydraulic disc brakes, an integrated gear hub and dynamo powered lighting.

On the European debut next month, Quentin said: “Eurobike is an unmissable event for us with our current and future partners. With 55 shops already in France, 10 in the UK, 3 in Amsterdam and 1 in Barcelona, we’re accelerating our roll-out in Europe and are looking for our next partner shops. We look forward to talking to them and introducing them to the bike on our stand C13 in Hall 12.”

Bastille is aiming to expand its network across France, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain.
