Silicon Valley startup Tensor has unveiled the world’s first personal Level 4 autonomous vehicle at the Oracle AI World conference in Las Vegas.
Powered by Nvidia technology, the Robocar is equipped with an onboard AI agent, advanced sensors, private AI capabilities and a supercomputer to bring fully autonomous driving to individual owners.
The exhibition coincides with Tensor’s newly-announced partnership with shared mobility platform Lyft which lets end customers monetise their Robocars through Lyft’s ride-hailing platform when not in use.
Jewel Li, Chief Operating Officer at Tensor, told Zag Daily that the Robocar can be “effortlessly converted” into a “revenue-generating robotaxi” by enabling a setting in the Tensor app. “This feature allows owners to have the option to autonomously generate income whenever the vehicle is idle.”
According to Li, this model of bridging private ownership with networked mobility is where the autonomous vehicle is headed – “toward a future that combines personal freedom, shared efficiency, and new economic opportunity.”
Tensor will begin delivering its Robocars to markets across the U.S., Europe and the UAE by the end of 2026. Lyft and Tensor intend to complete an integration that will enable the first ‘Lyft-ready’ Robocars to launch in 2027.
Beyond enabling individual ownership, Lyft has also reserved a fleet of hundreds of Robocars from Tensor for commercial deployment across key markets in Europe and North America, subject to regulatory approvals.
The partnership with Tensor follows a series of AV alliances for Lyft. This summer, Lyft partnered with Benteler Mobility to deploy autonomous shuttles in the U.S. while the mobility platform more recently became Baidu’s first European rideshare partner.
