Belgian speed pedelec manufacturer Specter is squarely targeting the commuter segment with the launch of its second model: the Specter 2.
Speed pedelecs are e-bikes equipped with powerful motors that provide assistance up to 45 km/h.
The new model is available in two configurations including a long-range option. Both offer a top speed of 45 km/h, dual motors and a built-in HD, 4G-connected screen display.
Priced from €6,490, Specter Founder and CEO Maarten Baert said the new model is positioned as the company’s “ultimate commuter” pedelec, compared with the sportier Specter 1 which is priced at €8,990.
“Specter 2 brings to the market exceptional design and user experience through our digital cockpit and OS2 software, which is unrivalled in the market,” Baert told Zag Daily.

The integrated cockpit provides turn-by-turn navigation, Spotify integration, weather forecasts and live wind information, speed limit data and both manual and automotive gear modes. Riders can also connect their Unit 1 helmets through the cockpit, giving access to indicators, integrated lights and fall detection. The helmet can act as a bike key, no longer requiring the rider to enter a pin code once the helmet is a connected.
Assembled in Flanders, the Specter 2 features a frame manufactured using automotive-grade injection moulding, with a recyclable carbon-hybrid material. Baert described the production method as a “gamechanger”.
“Not only can we produce in Belgium at scale, it’s also much more efficient, and so cheaper, than a traditional carbon frame,” he said. While the process results in a heavier bike, Baert noted that the Specter 2 is “powerful enough to offset this”.
The Specter 2 weighs 30 kilograms and offers an average range of 60 kilometres, while the Specter 2 Long Range weighs 33 kg, delivers an average range of 90 km and starts from €7,490.
